The furore over Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid has been fierce. At issue is the casting of singer Halle Bailey as Ariel, the mermaid princess. Bailey is black. Some have said Disney is using race as a cash grab. One particular tweet that gained a lot of attention was by a red-headed woman who said she was sad she no longer felt represented now that Ariel is black.
