The game Warri is a board game belonging to an ancient family of pit and pebble games which originated in Africa. The game originated in the Sudan and spread to western Africa from which it travelled to the Caribbean in the 17th century. It is one of the most interesting examples of African heritage surviving in the Caribbean. It is believed to be one of the world's oldest games and to have derived from some sort of abacus used in accounting. The game has been played in St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Martinique, Dopminica, Suriname and Jamaica. There are also warri tournaments in Barbados but Antigua and Barbuda , with its legions of warri enthusisasts and a vibrant National Warri Association may well be regarded as the last bastion of warri in the region.
