Dwayne Johnson Decides to Black Adam over Shazam

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has finally confirmed his decision to play antihero, Black Adam, in the upcoming adaptation film of the DC comic.

The announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the former wrestler mentioned he’s always been a fan of the character and anitheros in general.

During a promotional appearance in Mexico City, for his most recent movie, Hercules, Johnson promised that comic fans wouldn’t be disappointed, as he is putting his “heart and soul” into the role.

Black Adam is a popular comic book character who begins his journey as a hero, but then turns villain.

The villain is equipped with powers of flight, super strength, super speed, superhuman hearing, invulnerability and magic. He basically has the capability of destroying anything that interferes with his quest for dominance over all forms of magic.

Production for the movie hasn’t begun yet; however, Darren Lemke is already set to write the script for it.

New Line president and COO Toby Emmeric revealed his excitement to begin the project, and also noted that their previous projects with Johnson have been nothing but successful.

New Line president and COO Toby Emmeric expressed excitement over the project, noting that all their projects with Dwayne have been nothing but successful.

“He [Dwayne] is such a larger than life character,” he said in an interview, “and it just made perfect sense to me that we put him in a DC comic movie.”

Emmeric also added that Johnson carries around a swag and charisma that comic book characters have, making him a shoe in for the role.
