Hail to the Chief: A Salute to Patrick Mahomes and His High-Powered Stance Against Racial Oppression – Your Black World

However, the video appearance of one NFL superstar, in particular, is what sent an even stronger message to the league’s brass; one of resistance on behalf of the NFL’s predominantly black players.

Like Kaepernick is (and was, respectively), this particular player of influence who appeared in the recent video is a man of color and an NFL quarterback.

Mahomes’ father (Pat Mahomes, Sr.) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who obviously raised his son in a higher socioeconomic enclave than most black professional athletes were raised in.

However, without yelling like a drill sergeant, Mahomes said three words on the video alongside his NFL comrades, which sent shockwaves inside and outside the NFL.

Mahomes’ participation in the recent video appeal by NFL players to their league’s top brass forced the hands of professional football’s power brokers.
