Minneapolis (BNC) – Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey cried as he knelt down in front of George Floyd’s casket.

Martin Luther King III and his family also paid their respects.

The private ceremony is being held at North Central university and will not only be a celebration of his life, but according to the family’s attorney Ben Crump, will be “a plea to America and a plea for justice that we don’t let his death be in vain.

The NAACP is calling for today to be recognized as a National Day of Mourning in recognition of George Floyd.

George Floyd leaves behind a six year old daughter among many other loving family members.
