Martinique: Over 100 People Arrested During Month-Long Anti-Crime Operation

A major anti-crime operation in the neighbouring Island of Martinique has resulted in law enforcement officers arresting 107 people in the past month. The fight, particularly against violent crime, got a boost when the French Caribbean Island welcomed an 80-member gendarme squadron from France.  Their presence led to several arrests of armed individuals and drug trafficking suspects. According to local reports, law enforcement officers carried out 7000 checks involving 3500 people and 3200 vehicles in the past month.
