The White House has approved a permanent increase in the country’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP payments will increase by 25%. The change goes into effect on October 1 and will benefit the 42 million people participating in the program. It’s the largest increase in the program’s 46-year history, according to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.
