Sudan has decided to normalize its relations with Israel under US mediation,

The normalization of relations between the 2 countries was announced Friday by the White House  in Washington.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described  this a \"tremendous turnaround,\"

\"What a tremendous turnaround! Today Khartoum says yes to peace with Israel, yes to the recognition of Israel and normalization with Israel,\" Netanyahu said in a statement in Hebrew transmitted.

Sudan thus becomes the third Arab country to announce since August the normalization of its relations with Israel, after the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, welcomed Mr. Netanyahu who had met earlier this year with Sudanese General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in Uganda.

The normalization with Sudan is particularly symbolic. After the Six-Day War, which in 1967 saw Israel seize the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza, most Arab leaders met in Sudan to adopt the Khartoum Resolution known for its \"three no's\": no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with the Jewish state.

Insurance premiums have fallen by Sh806.6 million in the first three months of this year ahead of coronavirus in Kenya that has led to job losses, closure of businesses and pay cuts.

Based on the pandemic, it is expected that the industry will register worse results at the end of the second quarter when the effects of the virus reflect in premiums.

The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) told the Senate that the industry was witnessing non-payment of premiums, lapsing policies, low renewals of short term covers and suppressed uptake of new policies.

As at March last year, gross written premiums stood at Sh67.2 billion, a 1.2 per cent decline means insurance premiums now stand at Sh66.4 billion.

American civil society has turned on Donald Trump just as South Africans turned on Jacob Zuma.

The incident happened because Trump was angry his brief sequestration for safety to a bunker underneath the White House during the demonstrations made him look weak.

Trump took Barr, Secretary of Defence Mark Esper and a combat uniformed chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, with him.

They included Republican Trump voters who said the video of George Floyd being killed by a police officer required a show of solidarity.

General John Kelly, who served first as Trump's Homeland Security secretary and then as White House chief of staff, urged Americans to think more carefully about who they elect president, at both his character and his ethics.
