History was made at the 2023 Tony Awards as Alex Newell and J. Harrison Ghee won, making them the first openly nonbinary performers to do so. Newell won for their role in the musical comedy 'Shucked," and Ghee won for their role in the revival of 'Some Like It Hot.'
