Nationwide — Kerry Anne and Michael Gordon, an African American couple from Philadelphia, got married on June 6th and celebrated their wedding day with thousands of protesters as they joined them in the Black Lives Matter protest.
Michael, who is 42-years old, and his wife Kerry Anne, who is 35-years old, stood out in the crowd of protesters as they wore their wedding attire — tuxedo and gown — during the protests.
Despite knowing about the protest, they decided to continue their wedding as they already postponed their larger wedding party to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It ended up being a very powerful moment,” Kerry Anne told ABC News.
“Not only are we feeling the movement of the people… but I’m meeting my husband, on our wedding day, as a strong black man and a good representative of who we are as people, what our men are like, what our culture is like.
