Kukoma Ntopwa Women have courted teams from neighbouring countries for possible international friendly matches before the Cosafa Qualifiers for the Caf Women’s Club Champions League to be held in South Africa in August this year.

Ntopwa owner and coach Isaac ‘Jomo’ Osman said they had approached teams from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique to consider meeting the domestic women’s football champions.
“We need to have a fully-fledged side before travelling to South Africa. We were there before; so, we know what it takes. This is why we want to play teams from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique to fine tune,” Osman said.
He said they would be banking on their sponsors— Capital Oil Refining Industries (Cori)—and other well-wishers to support the team’s mission.
“We are representing the nation and it is our hope that other organisations and individuals will join our sponsors to make our campaign a successful mission,” Osman said.
Cori Sponsorship Coordinator Violet Kapolo said they were yet to meet the team’s management to brainstorm.
“Our intention is to help to give the team the necessary support to compete for glory at the qualifiers,” Kapolo said.
Ntopwa secured the slot after winning the Goshen-Football Association of Malawi National Women’s Championship for the second time.
In the final, the side defeated Silver Strikers Ladies 4-3 on post-match penalties following a one-all draw in regulation time at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre, last month.
