Silver Strikers Coach Peter Mgangira has bemoaned the team’s slow start to the TNM Super League championship defence.
The Central Bankers have collected a point from a possible six, having drawn 2-2 away to Chitipa United and lost 1-0 at home to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the 2025 official match opener.
Mgangira told the club’s website that the team should be concerned about picking a point from two matches.
The Flames physical fitness trainer has since called for a quick turnaround of form to defend their title.
Speaking after the team drew 2-all with Chitipa, Mgangira said his troops were relaxed.
“This is a painful result considering that we came here for maximum points. We took the lead in the first half but later relaxed. This relaxation has cost us three points, as we were supposed to play the same way as in the first half but did not.
“We created a lot of chances; we scored only two goals, but we needed more. We, as a team, need to learn from this match as well and see how we go forward,” Mgangira told Silver’s website.
During Saturday’s match, Alex Benson gave Chitipa the lead before Binwell Katinji levelled matters.
Chinsisi Maonga then gave Silver the lead before Joseph Mbaga equalised for Chitipa.
Former Silver and Flames player Kuruwa Ngwira said pressure was on champions Silver.
“Much as it is too early to press the panic button, they, as defending champions, were supposed to collect at least four points from a possible six. With such results, the pressure will keep on mounting,” Ngwira said.
Meanwhile, Silver are expected to host Moyale Barracks in the first leg of the Airtel Top 8 this weekend.
