The University of Texas at Dallas removed most newspaper stands holding its official student publication, The Mercury, after students went on strike over the firing of its editor. The Mercury staff then launched an alternative news organization, The Retrograde, which was distributed by hand and gained more than 1,000 copies in the following months.
