The country recorded 60 more virus-related deaths on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 20,011.

Businessman Strive Masiyiwa has urged Africans to adopt what he calls the 'ITTIT' formula to fighting the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus epidemic as governments across the continent gradually ease national lockdown restrictions imposed to reign-in the spread of the disease.
Writing on his popular Facebook blog following his appointment by the African Union as a Special Envoy to Coordinate the Africa Private Sector Initiative for the Procurement of Personal Protective Equipment and other Essential Supplies, Masiyiwa says the key to stopping the disease in its tracks is to adopt the formula #ITTIT; inform, test, trace, isolate and treatment as a collaborative effort among the private sector, NGOs, businesses and faith-based organizations.
Unfortunately, this test needs to be taken at least seven days from the time you are infected, which means you could have unknowingly infected a lot of people during that time.
Once you identify people who have tested positive for COVID-19, they must be isolated in a safe place from others, until the virus is out of their system.
As soon as someone tests positive for the virus, the health authorities will want to sit them down and learn about their #Contacts to help them, their families and others in their community stay safe.
According to information on the CDC website, “Two kinds of tests are available for COVID-19: viral tests and antibody tests.
With so much still unknown about immunity to COVID-19 and dozens and dozens of antibody tests that have not been rigorously validated, experts worry that widespread antibody screening may give those who test positive a false sense of security.
With other diseases, the presence of antibodies often means you have acquired immunity against re-infection, for at least some period of time, but that is not known yet in the case of COVID-19.
An accurate antibody test would help the scientists and researchers gather the data on who has gotten the virus, including those who’ve shown no symptoms of being sick.
We now know from all of this that a positive antibody test may not necessarily mean you’re safe from ever getting the virus again.

[The Conversation Africa] Many countries in East Africa have turned to contact tracing and carrying out COVID-19 tests on thousands of individuals as a way of monitoring and trying to limit transmissions of the new coronavirus. In Rwanda, they have been investigating how they can scale up testing significantly. But instead of testing every person - which would require millions of tests - they have turned to a different strategy: pooled testing. Leon Mutesa explains to Moina Spooner, from The Conversation Africa, how this works.

By CARLEY PETESCH Associated Press DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — As a result of holiday gatherings, African officials warn of a resurgence of COVID-19 on the continent and urge increased testing to combat it. The level of testing across the continent is considerably less than what health experts say is needed to effectively control the spread of the disease. Africa makes up about 3.3% of the global total of confirmed virus cases, but this is believed to be just a fraction of the actual cases on the continent of 1.3 billion people. When the pandemic began only two of Africa's 54 […]
