MEAC Joins in Canceling 2020 Fall Sports - Black News Channel

David Johnson/ BNC Digital Reporter Norfolk, VA (BNC) - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced Thursday they will not be going fourth with fall sports due to growing concerns of COVID-19. The Council of Presidents and Chancellors took this action out of a concern for the safety as well as the physical and mental health of student-athletes, coaches, administrators, support staff, faculty and fans. Surges in COVID-19 cases along the eastern seaboard heavily influenced the council’s decision as data suggests that the African Americans and other minority communities are being disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
