Nine minutes and 29 seconds According to Mark 1:14-15, Kairos time is a time that demands a conversion from people. Today as we learned of the conviction of Derek Chauvin as the murderer of George Floyd, we entered into our Kairos time in America. We have been praying for the family of George Floyd and will continue to because this is just the beginning, another beginning for them. However, we here in the USA entered into a time of conversion today - if this time is taken and used for…

Macadamia farmers are accusing nut processors of exploiting the coronavirus pandemic to collude with brokers who are mopping up the commodity at throw away prices.
Farm gate prices have plummeted from a high of Sh200 last year to Sh50 currently with farmers saying brokers were delivering the produce to processors.
Mr Joshua Muriira, Meru Macadamia Farmers Association chairman, said processors had closed their buying centres but accused them of continuing to receive nuts from brokers.
However, Nuts Processors Association of Kenya executive officer Charles Muigai dismissed the farmers’ claims, and maintained that they were not buying nuts from brokers.
“It is unfair for the farmers to accuse us of colluding with brokers yet we have maintained good prices when the industry was doing well.
The African swine fever that has killed close to 300 pigs in parts of the Omusati region, with an enormous and costly impact on small-scale farmers in the region has been successfully contained.
The Chief Veterinarian Officer, Dr Josephat Peter in the region said they have not reported any cases of African fever since last week.
Since the swine fever initially emerged with the first reported case recorded on 13 March, outbreaks were reported in five constituencies of Okalongo, Ogongo, Tsandi, Outapi and Anamulenge involving 32 households.
Peter said some farmers destroyed their dead pigs before they could take samples for laboratory tests, and it was only on 24 March that samples were taken and sent to the central lab in Windhoek, which confirmed the disease the next day.
\"Although the disease does not affect human beings, people should refrain from eating meat from a pig suspected to have died of African swine fever or an unknown cause, as the consequences of this is not known,\" he discouraged.

Corruption is a major concern in Kenya leading to the establishment of institutions to curb it.
Even with the establishment of Integrity Clubs by the EACC, the government is grappling with ways to engage young people when it comes to the fight against corruption.
Some expenditure reports indicate that money went toward building water points, only audits to reveal the information to be false.
In 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his then Swiss counterpart Alain Berset signed the Framework for the Return of Assets from Corruption and Crime in Kenya, which is a mechanism to recover money swindled from state coffers by corrupt individuals hidden in Switzerland.
As anti-graft crusaders ponder on how to enlighten youth, so that they do not engage in corruption and educate them on values and ethics, would teaching ethics at a tender age help in curbing corruption in the country?

This Seattle branch of the YMCA is located at 23rd Avenue and East Madison Street. The site was formerly used as a tennis club by members of the community. The property was owned by the Colman family, long-time supporters of the YMCA. Members of the black community persuaded the owners to deed the property to the YMCA and in 1936 the modest building and grounds became a new branch of the Seattle YMCAs.
During the World War II years the East Madison YMCA became an Armed Services YMCA for black servicemen and catered largely to them. Under the leadership of John Copeland in the mid 1940s, the Y reached out to the schools and with increased youth programs began to attract more and more young people. The programs and facility grew even more under the leadership of Meredith Mathews.
In 1965 a sturdy, modern structure, designed by black architect Leon Bridges, was built to include a gymnasium, swimming pool, activity rooms and offices.
It was remodeled and enlarged in 1991.
In December 1993, the YMCA of Greater Seattle Board of Directors named the branch the Meredith Mathews East Madison Branch of the YMCA in recognition of Mr. Mathews’ outstanding contribution to the YMCA and to the Seattle community. This is the first YMCA facility of Greater Seattle to be named for an individual.
