Iman is a former high-fashion model who later became a well-known businesswoman. Iman was born in Somalia, and as a model in the 1970s and 1980s was known for her lithe frame and serene good looks. After her retirement from modeling she gained wider fame when she married rock innovator David Bowie in 1992; they remained married until his death in 2016. Iman owns a cosmetics company and, like Bowie, has taken occasional roles in films, including L.A. Story (1991, starring Steve Martin), Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country (1991, starring William Shatner) and Exit to Eden (1994, with Rosie ODonnell).

Iman and David Bowie have one daughter, Alexandra Jones, born in 2000. Her last name is David Bowie’s actual last name, ‘David Bowie’ being a stage name.
