The Lodge School brought a week-long series of events to climax on African Awareness Day Friday in an event to recognise African heritage that began 22 years ago.“It’s important that we do this because some do not see the link,” said Jacqueline Gollop, the head of General Studies. “Sometimes a practical demonstration like today does it. So doing this where they can have a good time, not being in a formal classroom setting is effective.” The theme of this year’s activities was Celebrating Our Commonalities Across the Region and their Links to Africa. She said it was important for the students to learn about their heritage and incorporating fun into learning helped them to remember the significance of what is being taught.
